  1. Support post course.

     We are here to help, call us, email, visit with any questions after training.

     If you need help to set up your own business, have a problem that needs advice, need parts or                    

     tools then we are always on hand.


     Professional start up – advice, call us, email us or visit for unlimited help and advice when    

     starting own repairs/sales business or just working on your own bikes.

     Frame Builders.

     Professional programme/or just returning frame builders: only £100 per day (+ tubing/


     We will help and advise with workshop and tools set up, insurance, accounts and offer our

       ongoing help and support backed by 20 years experience and expertise as retailers/repairs

     mechanics/events organisers/frame builders and Pro Race Team mechanics.  

2. What shall I bring?

Pack light, old clothes for the workshop, an Apron or Overalls is a good idea.

Sturdy Shoes or Boots, no open toe sandals or trainers.

1x A4 folder / 1x A4 lined notebook or paper, pens and pencils.

A bike (or 2 bikes for advanced level 3 course) – optional.

TORCH- there are no street lights and the short walk from car park to buildings is very dark.

Cash for accommodation if staying on site.

Cards accepted for all workshop tools and parts purchased.

 3. Do I need to bring tools or gloves or towels or bedding?

No –

NB: We supply sports towels for ease of drying.

4. Are their laundry facilities?

An on site service wash is £10 per load for stays of more than 7 days.

Open 9-6pm Mon-Friday and 9-5pm Saturday.

Pack light, trousers and 2x tees for workshop.

Change of clothes for the pub.

Cycle kit.

 5. Can I bring a bike?

Yes- for 2 day, 5 day and Level 2 only courses bring 1 bike to strip and service at the end of the course.

For Advanced Level 3 course bring 1x hybrid or 1x road bike and 1x mtb.

You can service disc brakes and suspension systems on your bike on this course.

This is optional.

 6. Can I buy parts?

Yes we have a good stock of parts and can order any others in. We will check your bike at the start of the course to make sure we have components if needed.

 7. Do I get a discount on parts?

Yes - 10-15% parts and tools.

TOOLS- we can supply tools during the course at discount.

NB- For own business set up workshop equipment, parts supplied at trade with advice on setting up as well.

 8. Can I build wheels for myself?

Yes – let us know what you want to build before arriving and we will order parts in, we do carry good stock of hubs and rims and spokes. Discount course prices apply.

NB: You will not be able to build with C-Xray or any other superlight configuration, this takes many wheel builds before being sufficiently skilled to build.

 9. Parking.

Free parking for cars and MWB vans only. We do not have space for motorhomes unless by prior agreement - see item 12.

  1. Security on site

There are lockers inside for personal items and bike sheds for dry storing own bikes.

You need to bring your own bike locks.

Security lights on motion sensors operate at night on the buildings.

You are responsible for the insurance of you personal belongings.

Downland Cycles cannot accept responsibility for any damage, theft or loss of your personal belongings. We will make every reasonable effort to ensure a safe and secure venue.

  1. Accommodation on site – is this shared and what food is supplied?

Yes – the sleeping area is bunk beds, handbuilt and very sturdy, good mattresses and bedding is supplied.

Privacy curtains to each bunk with 2x electric sockets, light and a shelf.

The accommodation is for people on the courses only.

Food – self service cereals and toast for breakfast, sandwiches made for you with fruit for lunch, cake in the afternoon break and a home cooked dinner in the evening.

Food is supplied from breakfast on Course Day 1 to and including lunch on the last day.

Food is home cooking eaten together and as such we are not able to cater for food allergies or special diets.


  1. Camping - Small Campervan S or MWB only and Tents

By prior arrangement only and subject to space and courses running, a charge of £35 per night, includes use of shower and rest area in bunkhouse and meals.

There is no electric hook up and no facility to park and be self sufficient.


  1. TV, WiFi and Mobile Phones service?

Yes – there is Freeview television.

Yes – there is free WiFi for email access but not down loading of files.

No – there is generally no mobile phone signal on site, but a short walk of 300 meters will get you a signal.


  1. Booking terms?

Booking is confirmed on payment, and payment is an acceptance of the terms and conditions.

Change dates – only if we can fill your place and are notified at least 8 weeks in advance.

Cancellations – we will refund less 20% only if we are able to fill your place and are notified within 8 weeks of course start date.

No refund for cancellations 10 working days prior to the start of the course.


  1. Conduct

Sadly we have to include this in our terms due to recent events where 2 people became so intoxicated they disturbed others and were still too drunk to continue the next day.

Alcohol – No alcohol to be consumed during working time.

Any person considered to be intoxicated will be asked to leave and will not be permitted to enter the workshops or complete the course.

Drunken behaviour will not be tolerated at any time during your stay with us.

Social drinking is acceptable in leisure hours, however any person considered to be intoxicated or hung over will not be permitted in the workshops nor to complete the course.
