Frame Building - Tig Welding
For those of you wanting to ride something a bit special, something you have made yourself then this is the course for you. Come and learn the skills of frame building at Downland Cycles. The courses caters for absolute beginners, and no experience of welding is needed to attend our courses. As long as you are practical and are confident in using hand tools we will be able to teach you how to build a frame, however we recommend fillet brazing a frame prior to tig welding to develop the fine work needed in welding thin tubing.
Short 1 day Tig welding taster courses are run on request - email firstname.lastname@example.org
This Tig Welding course takes you through the entire cycle frame building process and includes:
Basic Fit and Design
Tube cutting and Mitring
TIG Welding and Brazing Torch Skills
Braze-ons and Fittings
Finishing and preparing for painting
NB: Tig welding thin tubes for bicycles is a skill not suited to all. During practice sessions if it becomes apparent this skill is not for you we will revert to brazing for your frame. Optional Tig welding dates for further practice at reduced cost can be booked.
